This image is the promotional flyer designed for the 10th public theatrical performance of the Japanese avant-garde theater company Torikouen. The play, written and directed by Kaori Nishio, is titled Kuhaku no Iro ha Naniiro ka? (空白の色はなにいろか？ / What is the Colour of the Void?). 

Tezzo Suzuki, the designer of the flyer, used a raw high-contrast B&W aesthetic and coarse, stippled spray gradients inside abstract forms to  visualize the sensation of the intangible “void”. Custom hand-carved lettering in the top and bottom registers adds a tactile, woodblock-print texture to the layout.
